The day culminates on a discussion with RICHIE HAWTIN, Ean Golden , and DJs at each respective date as well as special guest speakers. For example, Grimes will join the tour for a discussion in Los Angeles. As Claire Boucher, she has performed at Hawtin’s ENTER.Ibiza in the past. CNTRL is all about engaging new and old, past and present North American fans of “EDM” (electronic dance music) and showing them the roots of the music, the history of a global movement and demonstrating what the future of music technology and performance has the power to become.

Since launching in 2012 as the CNTRL: Beyond EDM tour, the outing has embarked on a cultural engagement, bringing together fans of electronic dance music and those interested in it into deeper forms of the genre by educational daytime lectures on music technology. Lectures focus on the techno and technology aspects of modern-day electronic music, presenting the more futuristic and underground side of the genre, as championed by Richie Hawtin and his peers for the last two decades.

Central to the CNTRL concept are daytime seminars in the colleges to inform and inspire people about technology, music production, live performance, and the business of electronic music. CNTRL will be a future thinking session, but will also ensure the students leave with a deeper understanding of how the genre developed to where it is today. The event then ends with a club gig in the evening, giving the students a chance to experience the artists in action.

Carl Cox Protege Joe Brunning Releases 'Soul Matters'

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of seeing Carl Cox live, then you’ll have already experienced the sounds of Joe Brunning. His name may not be a household one just yet, but it’s not far off. After the success of his track ‘Let Me See You Work,’ which, as most know, became a legendary Carl Cox anthem, Joe Brunning had and even bigger ace in the hole with his debut album ‘Soul Matters.’ Immediately recognizing the absolute brilliance of the album, Carl Cox signed it to his imprint Intec Digital.

The first single off the forthcoming album is the title track Soul Matters. Boasting the original album version along with a remix from father and son duo Kevin and Dantiez Saunderson, the package is as tight and pure as can be. Joe makes songs that tell a story and, if you let yourself, you can get lost in it. Soul Matters has a journey within and perfects the balance between dance floor and the daydream.

Music for the soul is music worth experiencing and Soul Matters is exactly that.

DIRTYBIRD Releases Will Clarke’s Debut EP ‘The Boogie Woogie’

•March 18, 2015 • Leave a Comment

Will Clarke

After making a highly-coveted Dirtybird debut on DIRTYBIRD 10 alongside veteran Dirtybird Players, Bristol’s own Will Clarke is back with his first single on the label, The Boogie Woogie.

Will Clarke delivers a refined sound that marries the bassed-out beats of Bristol with the tasteful house of Ibiza that results in your head nodding along well beyond your control.

Starting things off strong, ‘The Boogie Woogie’ is a bonafide bouncy groover filled with bit crushed sounds and accentuated by zany vocal samples that will have you doing just as the title suggests. A driving beat punctuated by pristine tambourine hits and claps, coupled with just the right amount of wonky wobbles make this one a sure shot energy boost for those on the dance floor.

The Goog starts off with a theme that echoes throughout the entire track: “All I wanna do is party.” An irresistible catchy track showcasing escalating toms, whistles, and echoey samples will have dance floor denizens bouncing around like a out-of-control pinball.

Spring time brings about renewal and growth, and Will Clarke delivers the fresh sounds that pairs perfectly. Expect to hear a lot of him on dance floors everywhere this year and beyond!
